Giovanni Fanchini elected as Vice-Chair of CAP DCMMP

We are pleased to announce that Giovanni Fanchini is the new Vice-Chair of the Division of Condensed Matter and Materials Physics (DCMMP) of the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) after being elected at the 2014 CAP Meeting in Sudbury. As the 2014-2015 DCMMP Vice-Chair, Giovanni is expected to serve as the DCMMP Chair for 2015-2016.
Since 1945, CAP represents the voice of Canadian physics to government, granting agencies, and many international scientific societies. CAP is a broadly-based national network of physicists working in educational, industrial, and research settings and a strong and effective advocacy group for support of, and excellence in, physics research and education. Western's Physics and Astronomy Department is a departmental member of CAP.
Condensed matter physics is the branch of physics that deals with the physical, structural and quantum mechanical properties of materials, including solids, liquids and soft matter. Mission of the DCMMP is to raise the profile of condensed matter and materials physics research and to support condensed matter and materials physics researchers in Canada.
