Laboratory tour for Western Indigenous Services
On June 6, 2014, some of the science labs in Physics and Astronomy hosted a brief orientation tour, the purpose of which is to form the basis of a program whereby prospective science students from the indigenous community could be introduced to some of the research being done.
From Indigenous Services were Admissions Coordinator Erik Mandawe, along with Orientation Leader Kelly Geris. Tour guide was Neven Vulic, PhD candidate in Physics and Astronomy.
Laboratories included the MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) systems lab of Prof. Blaine Chronik, the condensed matter laboratory or Prof. Giovanni Fanchini, as well as Chemistry's glassblowers shop, which is also located in the Physics and Astronomy building.
