Phin Perquin Honoured with Western Award of Excellence

Congratulations to Phin Perquin on winning the prestigious “2017 - The Western Awards of Excellence!”  the highest level of campus-wide recognition for Western staff, for his many years of commitment and dedication to the Department of Physics & Astronomy, and the Western community. 

Since joining the department in 1970’s, Phin has held a variety positions including, Laboratory Technician in the first and second year labs, Research Laboratory Technician, Physics & Astronomy Stores Manager and the Building Manager, developing a vast knowledge of the daily operation of the Physics & Astronomy Department. As project liaison on the renovation of the Physics & Astronomy building, Phin’s insight into the needs of the department and his ability to garner cooperation from all the parties involved were critical to transforming the old building into the state-of-the-art showcase facility we now enjoy.

Many current and former undergraduate and graduate students, staff from across campus and P&A faculty wrote testimonials in support of Phin’s nomination, illustrating his technical and managerial expertise, his willingness to assist and the on-going support he provides the department.

Phin Perquin is a very deserving recipient of this award. Congratulations Phin!
