A Little Bit of Holland
Objective Build a windmill that will lift a given mass.
Purpose To investigate mechanical systems.
Participants Team of up to four.
Materials Note cards, cardboard, balsa wood, foam cups, foam sheets or any non-metal material.
  1. The maximum height of the windmill is to be 40 cm.
  2. The windmill may be constructed fully or in part from the materials provided.
  3. Wind will be provided by a standard house fan chosen prior to the competition so energy generated will be based solely on the design of the windmill.
Judging A standard mass of 50 grams will be attached to the mill and the shortest time to raise the mass a distance of 30 cm will be the winner.
