Popcorn Done Naturally
Objective To construct a solar corn popper.
Purpose To investigate solar energy.
Participants Teams of up to four.
Materials Any materials may be used excluding any commercial solar products.
  1. The popper may be up to 1 m in diameter and 1/2 m in height.
  2. The popper must operate without the use of electrical or mechanical aids.
  3. There will be a 15-30 minute time limit.
Judging The first popper to pop 1 kernel of corn out of 10 supplied is the winner. The other teams will continue to try to pop the corn to determine 2nd, 3rd, 4th place and so on.
