Egg 500
Objective Each team will build a device to transport a 60 gram egg a distance of 5 metres as quickly as possible using the energy of a rubber band.
Purpose To investigate motion.
Participants Teams of up to four.
Materials The rubber band will be supplied, as will the raw egg.
  1. The course is 5 metres long. It is level and terminates in a concrete block wall.
  2. A raw egg weighing at least 60 grams must be used.
  3. The egg must not be altered in any way and must complete the course and be returned to the judge unbroken (and uncracked).
  4. In the event of a tie, there will be a re-run using a new band and fresh egg.
Judging The egg which crosses the start line and touches the wall in the shortest time wins.
