| Objective |
To construct a cart that will move the
furthest and fastest backwards using the principle that a gun kicks
back when it's fired. |
| Purpose |
To investigate the physics of recoil. |
| Participants: |
Teams of up to four. |
| Materials |
One block of wood, four nails, hammer,
one elastic band, a standard weight given to each group. |
| Rules |
- Cart will be limited to 12 cm X 24 cm.
- Students will be allowed one hour to construct the cart. The
cart may already have its wheels attached.
- Materials provided must be the only ones used.

| Judging |
The cart that moves the furthest wins.
There will also be awards given to the cart with the fastest time
to travel a pre-determined distance. |
